Free crochet edging and border patterns
These patterns are quick, easy, and cute. They are great for someone who knows how to crochet basic stitches, but doesn't want a super time-consuming project.

Basic Shell Edge- Crochet Edging Pattern
Round one: Single crochet through fabric with the Sharp Crochet Hook, spacing stitches about 1/4" apart. Join round with a slip stitch. Round two: chain 3, do 7 dc in slip stitch, skip 2 stitches, sc in next 3 stitches, skip 2 stitches, *in third stitch do a shell: 8 dc in same stitch, skip 2 stitches, Sc in next 3 stitches. Skip 2 stitches.* Repeat from * all the way around. Join with a slip stitch.
Basic Picot Edge- Crochet Edging Pattern
Round one: Single crochet through fabric or paper with the Sharp Crochet Hook, spacing stitches about 1/4" apart. Join the round with a slip stitch. Round two: chain 2, do a single crochet in next 3 stitches, *chain 4, slip stitch in the first chain to form a picot, then single crochet in next 4 stitches.* Repeat from * all the way around. Join the round with a slip stitch.
X's and O's Edge- Crochet Edging Pattern
Round one: Do one single crochet through fabric with the Sharp Crochet Hook, skip two stitch spaces (about 1/2"), *single crochet, chain 3, single crochet in skipped stitch space, skip one stitch space.* Repeat from * all the way around. Join with a slip stitch.
